Can someone tell me whether Wombats live only in Australia,
or also on other continents?

Apart from zoos, of course.

We all know that Wombats are to be found in Zoos.

No.

Yes. Wombats are native to and live predominantly in Antarctica, where they make burrows in the ice
and feed on penguins. They arrived in Australia by hiding on ships returning from scientific
expeditions. In Australia they feed on magpies, which they confuse with penguins (Australia does
have penguins, but not many).

They are gradually spreading north along Australia's east coast and are increasingly regarded as a
menace, partly for their mazes of burrows under people's back yards, which subsequently collapse,
and partly because they are wiping out the magpie population, which is an important part of the food
chain. Some suburbs of Melbourne are overrun with wombats.
